Fleck and Flecker is a two person dance theatre work which premiered in Perth in 2012.

Fleck and Flecker was inspired by a self portrait by Austrian artist Karl Anton Fleck which showed him as a decapitated body holding two heads. Co-creator Cass Mortimer Eipper and I interpreted this image like a relationship with two heads pulling in opposite directions. We decided to make a work about the intricate and at times erosive compromises in partnership.

Fleck and Flecker was funded by the West Australian Department of Culture and the Arts and the Australia Council along with private sponsorship.

Fleck and Flecker won outstanding new choreography at the West Australian Dance Awards in 2013.

Death and the Maiden

Creators: Sthan Kabar Louet and Emma Sandall

Design: Sthan Kabar Louet

Video: Emma Sandall

Music: Schubert, Lou Reed, Sigur Ross

Death and the Maiden is an hour long dance duet co-created with Sthan Kabar-Louet for the Festival de Danse du Mont-Dore, Noumea in 2010.

The initial inspiration was Schubert’s Death and the Maiden string quartet. We chose to choreograph the exquisite second movement of the quartet which played out as a relationship slowly falling apart. Surrounding this core duet, we built on the the two characters’ separate paths, intersecting sporadically.

Death and the Maiden was supported by the Festival de Danse du Mont Dore, Noumea and Sthan Kabar Louet.
